My current association now has two Novi instances (one for FAA and one for our PAC), and it's an amazing product that just keeps getting better. For us, the seamless way Novi handles complex membership inheritance structures, accounting, event management, and data integrity/security are unparalleled. It's telling that the amazing product usability as an admin is rivaled only by how easy it is for our members to engage with us to register, pay invoices, etc. Perhaps most importantly, and I know it sounds cliche, Novi is absolutely a customer-centric and customer-driven company. They have invested heavily in maintaining the culture that made them so special even as they have scaled to a much larger AMS. > > **Puntos en contra**: It's hard to find much to criticize about Novi, because it just works so well across every fundamentally important component (and then some). If I was being nit picky (really nit picky) I'd say having a few more website templates off the shelf would be great, but I know they are already building those out\! It handles the core membership, website, events, e-commerce, communications, and financial workflows well without requiring a large IT staff to manage it. The website platform was initially something I was concerned about because of its more structured/template-based approach, but in practice we have been able to build a professional and useful website without spending an excessive amount of staff time maintaining it. I also really value Novi's integrations and openness to tools such as Zapier and APIs. We use automation extensively, and being able to connect Novi with other systems has allowed us to build workflows beyond what the AMS does natively. Novi listens to its customers. Their "You Decide" process, customer advisory opportunities, user community, and willingness to discuss feature ideas are unusual for a software company. I have submitted ideas directly to their team and have consistently felt that the feedback was actually heard rather than disappearing into a support ticket system. > > **Puntos en contra**: The biggest limitation is that, as our organization has become more sophisticated with data and automation, there are times when we want more advanced reporting, customization, or workflow functionality than Novi provides natively. For example, we have wanted better ways to analyze website form submissions, retain searchable submission data, report on where inquiries originate, and export that information. In some cases, we have built our own solutions using Zapier or other tools because the reporting or workflow we wanted was not available directly inside Novi. Novi continues to add functionality, integrations, and newer tools, so some of these limitations have improved over time. Their team has also been very receptive when we explain the business problem behind a feature request. > > Our overall experience with Novi has been very positive. I have recommended Novi to other associations and have been willing to serve as a reference because I think it is an especially strong option for small and mid-sized associations that need a capable AMS without having a dedicated technology department. What separates Novi for me is not simply the software. It is the combination of the product, the people, and the customer community. Their team is accessible, understands association management, and actively involves customers in discussions about where the product should go next. We have also been able to extend Novi through integrations and automation, which is important to us because we tend to push technology harder than the average association. There are certainly areas where I would like deeper reporting, additional customization, and more advanced functionality, but Novi has been willing to listen to those requests and continues to evolve. No AMS is going to do absolutely everything an association wants out of the box. Before the last update I was unable to pull up a report of who had joined or dropped. This has been fixed as there is a simple click on button that says Add Report/Drop Report which is very helpful\!\!\! To set this entire thing up a couple of years ago, it was a LONG process that requires lots of time. Now, having a few years under my belt, it has simplified. If you decide to use NOVI, during the set up make sure whoever is going to be using NOVI participates in the training/set up along with you-it makes things a lot easier in the long run.
