In rural Oklahoma, internet speed requirements are sometimes a struggle for us, but I would not recommend doing anything but this cloud-based system.

Cloud based software, very streamlined
Puntos a favor:
We love that it is a cloud based software and can be accessed anytime and anywhere! The transition from paper to the cloud was a bit of a process but worth it. Support is above and beyond! The imaging facility is very popular with the staff.
Contras:
It can be overwhelming at first but having the on point support helped a ton.
Excellent Platform

Cost & Not always being update on new features
MDIntelleSys EMR system, solid but a bit ponderous
Comentarios: MDI is a good solid electronic medical records software. I particularly like the imaging facility.
Puntos a favor:
It is great to be able to visualize testing images without accessing a different page. Secure communication is quite efficient.
Contras:
As we are still working from both superbills & EMR, the billing process is a little time-consuming. I am told that the interface w/tablet is much more streamlined, and am lobbying for that.

The integration of exams from the old system.
Comentarios: We are a multi-specialty Ophthalmology practice located in Massachusetts. I spent years researching different electronic health record systems along with one of our senior technicians, and the support of our I.T. person. We decided a web-based EMR would work best for us, as our cloud-based practice management system had saved us a great deal in I.T. related costs and provided us with immediate system updates. It also allowed our doctors to access patient information outside the office, which to them, was very helpful. Of all the web/cloud-based systems out there, the staff and doctors at the MDI booths truly knew their product best. They answered all of my many questions on the spot and/or via email prior to me even leaving the conference. They even had an actual MD giving the demo! That I had never seen before. We purchased IntelleChart last January and went "live" in June. We could have gone "live" sooner but were waiting on our PM system to finish their portion of the HL7 bridge. I also wanted to be sure our technicians had enough chart prepping practice before we brought it into clinic. Our "go-live" went more smoothly than I ever could have imagined. I'd heard so many nightmarish stories about "EMR go-live days" and in the end, we couldn't have been more prepared for ours. The MDI University, knowledgebase conference calls, incredible I.T. walk-thru and set up, made us unbelievably prepared for it. MDI suggested we cut back on the number of patients we were seeing during our "go-live" training and it worked out perfectly. Of the first four doctors who went "live" in June, three of them were seeing ALL patients on MDI within 2-3 weeks. I have only a few doctors who are still seeing some patients on paper and only because they are extremely part-time here, and therefore are taking a little longer to become more comfortable with and efficient on the system. If the technicians had it their way, everyone would be seen on MDI. To this day, we have not reduced the number of patients per session, and certainly won't need to at this point in time. There are many things I could say about IntelleChart and MDI as a company but the most important thing everyone should know about them, is that their customer support is top notch! Other practices on various EMR systems have called me, and when I mention that, they ask if the support is just as good six months down the road. Well, it is! I ask for a new "document type" to be added for example, and most of the time, it's already there in less than an hour. I'm the Administrator and even I can help the technicians populate data from previous exams when we're running behind. The system is so user-friendly; I honestly think it's helpful learning tool for new technicians, as it almost prompts you to ask the appropriate necessary questions. The owner of our practice allowed me to select our EMR system, which meant the pressure was all on me! He could not be happier with it and I can't tell you how pleased I am about that!
Comentarios: Retina Care Center looked for the best and most appropriate EMR for our practice for over three years. We experienced many demos. We are a two doctor practice, soon to have three doctors. We have three sites between Oregon and California. We are an extremely efficient practice, however, were interested in improving legibility of the patient chart as well of accuracy of injectables. We have been on a typical paper chart system for the thirteen years. We used spreadsheets for injectables and inventory of all medications. We purchased IntelleChart in May of 2013 and began the implementation timeline with accessing MDI University, webinars, a site visit, and an in house trainer to oversee paper chart entry into the MDI system. Through doing this, the staff became proficient prior to the MDI On Site Trainer arriving for GO LIVE week. The implementation could not have gone better. Shelley, the MDI trainer, was extremely knowledgable. The staff and doctors all found her very easy with which to work. We use AllScripts for our Practice Management System and I was concerned about the HL7 interface working effectively; it has worked great. IntelleChart is intuitive and easy to learn. Our staff learned the system fairly quickly and we are definitely still on the learning curve. We can't wait to learn everything we can do with the system. The company support of MDI is beyond magnificient. The greatest benefit we have received after one week of being on the system is the efficiency gained with the exam summary/letter being faxed by e-fax immediately, and our physicians not having to face dictation at the end of each day. I would be glad to be a resource for references, specifically practices who use AllScripts and MDI. Thank you again for having such an awesome team!
Excellent EMR
Comentarios: Going from a Customer No-Service EMR vendor to MDI was phenomenal. The customer service for MDI is excellent. The product is easy to use. Upgrades are pretty seamless. Since it is an ophthalmology based product they understand our needs as ophthalmologists.

Good option for medical offices.
Comentarios: Greater support to our medical unit, is a software only oriented to the visual field, with great applicability.
Puntos a favor:
# This system is used in the medical unit of the company, since by working with personnel in the mechanical areas there have been certain problems with certain chemicals and liquids, which has made the doctor verify all the retinal scanning and application of treatments . # It has a module for patient loading and visualization of stories, in addition it is constantly updated via the network, which allows for improvements as long as the provider is contacted. # Your control of personalized certificates allows you to have a fairly moderate workflow, increasing the doctor's capacity and distributing your ti
Contras:
It is a software that does not suffer from disadvantages, it is practical, it adapts to any organization as long as it has a medical unit, the supplier's answers are always the most adequate and in a short time which improves even the service provided.

Comentarios: Ophthalmology Associates is an 11 M.D., 2 O.D. subspecialty practice in Fort Worth Texas. Our group started on the EMR journey several years ago with another product. The physicians decided well into the project that the system we were running on was not applicable to ophthalmology in many ways. At an AAO meeting, a couple of our doctors learned of MDI's EMR and were quite impressed with the demonstration. From that point we have worked with MDI to integrate Intellechart into our practice. It took 2 years for all of our doctors to use the EMR on 100% of our patients, but we are finally there. Our practice has been fortunate enough to contribute to the knowledge base for all the subspecialties in a format that mirrors each of our doctors preferences. MDI was, and continues to be, cooperative in working through challenges, and, in fact, they consider us as partners during all interactions. The development team at MDI is a smart group of people. Their ability to keep up with the requirements for the Meaningful Use stages is remarkable, and, so far, have not missed a deadline. To comment on the benefits of having an EMR system in our practice might vary from physician to physician, but overall we realize that EMR is no longer optional and MDI's product is the best we have found.
Hands down the best in town
Comentarios: This software is my top recommendation for ophthalmology offices big or small. Makes everything happen in a pinch.
Puntos a favor:
The user interface is very friendly. Within a few days an experienced tech can easily find what they need and ensure they still have time for patient interaction
Contras:
For an inexperienced tech it can be overwhelming. And on the billing side it could be just slightly more prominent when signing a chart if there is likely to be an issue such as intravitreal injection time frames
Comentarios: We started MDintellesys mid June of 2012. We are a large facility, seeing about 120 patients per day. When we started, we ran half of a schedule the first 2 days and then continued with a full schedule from then on. MDintellesys made it easy because they had good training both onsite and via telephone, and their EMR has an intuitive nature. MDI has been developed by an ophthalmologist which make it unique in that the workflow, drop downs and layout follow the natural path of an eye exam. The goal of MDI has been to minimize the amount of typing that a doctor has to do thereby increasing efficiency and to this end, each release seems to make MDI more efficient. The integration with my PM was almost seemless; any small problems that did arise were usually due to my PM. Likewise, integration with equipment was very easy and MDI was able to have a solution for all of my equipment. The technical report is fantastic. It is rare that I call during business hours and not get a live person(and all tech support U.S based). Even after hours, if you have to leave a message at tech suport, a return phone call can be expected usually within 20 minutes. MDI is also very receptive to input from their clients and utilize that input to improve their product.
Comentarios: We have been using MDIntelleSys for approximately five months now. We are a busy, retina only, practice that was using paper charts exclusively. We had been looking for appropriate software for approximately ten years before coming across MDI. While the decision to change to EMR was difficult, the transition has been quite smooth and very successful. The conversion to electronic records was quick and within approximately one week we were seeing our normal, full load of patients with records done entirely electronically. The data entry is intuitive and fairly easy to use. The "default" settings work well for most patients and while we anticipate slowly refining these to our practice specific indications it has not been necessary to change much in the system. The efficiencies gained with the new software allow us to finish our work several hours earlier than with paper charts, have eliminated the need for transcriptionists, and streamlined our billing process. We have already reduced our staff by 2 FTE's and expect to be able to reduce our ancillary staff further in the coming months saving a substantial amount of overhead.
Comentarios: We are a 6 physician, 8 location retina only group in the SF Bay Area. We spent over a year evaluating multiple EHR systems, based on ease of use, features, adaptability, cost, cloud based, client-server, and ability to integrate with 3rd party PM systems. We chose IntelliChart because of the excellent user interface, features and functions, cloud based architecture, and the fact that it was designed by a retina specialist with other retina specialists in mind. We also rely on their commitment to meeting HITECH meaningful use criteria as set by CMS to receive the full allocation of physician reimbursements. We have been very happy with the service and support from MDI, and have recommended their product to other practices who are evaluating EHR systems. The Phase 1 implementation went quickly (2 days) and was very smooth. The training was excellent, overseen by knowledgeable, friendly experts. We have implement MDI in 6 of our 8 locations with 4 of our 6 physicians, and plan to roll out MDI to the final locations and physicians in the next 90 days.
MDI Version 6.4.3 Excellent EMR for General Ophthalmologists
Puntos a favor:
The product is designed by an ophthalmologist to serve an ophthalmologist's needs, with all the specific functions that an ophthalmologist would need to accurately and completely document a patient's medical record. Specific to the vendor, you will not find an EMR vendor with better customer service; their team is top notch with instant service, as well as follow up.
Contras:
In rural Oklahoma, internet speed requirements are sometimes a struggle for us, but I would not recommend doing anything but this cloud-based system. Even though it takes a couple extra seconds to open a chart, the peace of mind with the records being safely stored and backed up offsite, as well as the continual upgrades to address the ever-changing governmental requirements, are well worth it.
Comentarios: When our organization decided it was time to get ready for EMR we looked at about 6 software programs, we even went to 2 different practice's to evaluate a couple of them. When we saw MDI's we knew it was the perfect one for us. The initial set up was very easy, MDI handled everything, there was very little to do on the organization side. It's user friendly for all of our staff to use between our 2 locations. The service we get from MDI is amazing. As soon as you call they help you right away, we rarely ever have to get a call back, if we do have to they always call the same day. When you email the help desk a work ticket they update them so you always know whats going on with it. All of the employees at MDI are very smart with the software, and each time we call they are all so friendly. MDI has worked great for all our practice needs, and we are very happy we picked them over all the other software programs we looked at.
Comentarios: Making the decision to choose an EMR program is not an easy task. Thankfully MDIntelleSys takes all the guess work out of the process. Not general ophthalmology no problem this program has all the tools to help the most complicated practice record data with their patient encounters. We are a west coast practice and there has not been a time late in the day that we were unable to get assistance from MDI. They keep extended hours of operation to help everyone coast to coast. For the PM side of the business we are using athena. MDI and athena have a long standing relationship that goes back years. Our data between the two programs moves seamlessly and at lighting speed. Once we data enter a patient in athena they are right there in MDI. Hands down choosing MDI for our EMR needs was a good decision for our practice.
Great experience, no issues
Comentarios: I would recommend this software to any ophthalmology practice
Puntos a favor:
I love how user friendly the software is and that I can access it from anywhere being cloud based. Would recommend this to anyone.
Contras:
No cons other than possibly wanting another color within the work flow which would make it easier to designate specific areas such as optical
Best Ophthalmology EMR
Puntos a favor:
The fact that they are so specialty specific just adds to the fact that this EMR is so easy to navigate. The predictive features cut down a tremendous amount of time for the clinicians. The sales team is amazing as well as the support team.
Contras:
Price. It is a very competitive price and a great value. I only call this out as a con because I wish they were more affordable. Overall though...you should not go elsewhere.
Comentarios: I am the IT person/MR clerk for an ophthalmic/optometric practice with six offices in NW Pennsylvania and SW New York. We were in need of an EMR program, as our EPM wasn't adequate and needed updating. It was bulky and server based, which caused issues in and of itself. We went live with MDI back in September and have been gradually integrating it into every day use. One of our practitioners uses it exclusively and loves it. The implementation and training was extremely valuable; it's very easy to use. The on-site training our doctors received was invaluable. Customer support has been great. I've not had an issue that wasn't addressed in a very timely manner since our GO Live. Overall, I am very pleased with the system.
Comentarios: We couldn't have asked for a better system. After wading through the quagmire of other programs that were inefficient and obsolete, we thankfully found MDI. MDIntellesys was so easy to learn that we switched from our old EHR to MDI cold turkey and continued seeing patients at capacity. The customer support is US based, with intelligent representatives who know the program and can resolve issues immediately. Thanks for providing an EHR that pleases the doctors, medical staff, and even the billing staff.
Comentarios: MDIntelleSys is a very well run, very organized software company. We have enjoyed using the product for our retinal referral practice and would recommend it without reservation. The product is well thought out, and easy to use. I personally believe it has made me more efficient in my practice. The transition was smooth, and we have not had any problems with the system. I can't imagine a better product for an Ophthalmology practice looking to implement an electronic record.
