Sobre ModMed
Sistema de EHR basado en la nube, específico para cada especialidad, con una enorme biblioteca de contenido médico.
I personally use Kareo which integrates quite well with it. Great support team when you need them.
The EMR and EHR connectivity with their Billing is horrible.

An EMR that puts the physician and patient first
Puntos a favor:
Specialty-specific EMR built that is easy to use and intuitive. Assists with proper ICD-10 coding and use of modifiers. Additional modules for Pathology, Practice Management/Billing, Telemedicine, and MIPS reporting are available as integrated features. A proactive and responsive company that takes provider issues and input seriously.
Contras:
The system is designed around an optimal workflow. As with any EMR, office workflows will need to be updated in order to align with the system's capabilities.

Support completely falls off a cliff after implementation
Comentarios: Implementation was overall smooth and painless with one exception. They did not ask or understand the Nevada can't prescribe controlled substances on paper and thus didn't do anything for e-prescribing of controls until I brought it up a couple weeks before go live that I didn't see access for our provider. Had great trainers that showed us how to use the software and answered our questions. For clinical questions I haven't had any issues. We have several contacts and they respond to us quickly for support. If it has anything to do with billing or coding, it is an absolute nightmare to get support from someone on a phone or email. They did not setup our virtual card payment drive and we are still waiting for them to give us a folder for this. I was told this was done 07/07/23 and it still has not been completed. I have never had any issues with getting help on basic coding and payment issues until moving to BOOST (billing service). We will be taking a hard look at renewal time if we want to keep this service. I'm sure ModMed is going to reply to this post, so if you want to keep earning our business, you need to step it up.
Puntos a favor:
Great features. Intuitive system. Great clinical support (several contacts to get immediate help). Learns from previous encounters.
Contras:
BOOST support (billing service). You cannot get someone on the phone or email to answer basic billing questions or setup basic admin billing access for your account.

The most inefficient EMR I have used in 15 years
Comentarios: I spend hours every night/weekend charting because of the inefficiency of the program. The support is horrible/nonexistent. Lots of bugs, unannounced updates. It ruins my quality of life.
Puntos a favor:
It’s easy on the eyes, looks pretty. It’s easy to use for staff who are not tech savvy.
Contras:
So so inefficient. Constant scrolling, switching between screens. Unable to upload prescription details. Doesn’t update history automatically. Frequently crashes.

EMA saves time and makes money
Puntos a favor:
The intuitiveness of documentation for providers allows them to not spend as much time on the burdensome of documentation. This allows providers to focus on patient-care instead of administrative work.
Contras:
Sometimes, the rigidness of ModMed requires us to change our workflows instead of changing ModMed to integrate into our workflows.

Modernizing Medicine
Comentarios: Overall our experience has been positive with ModMed. I think part of any new EMR is that they do so much it takes time to really incorporate it all into your practice. So on that end, I think even the things we currently like the least will improve.
Puntos a favor:
The software is a whole suite with EMR and practice Management. The two work together nicely. It allows easy scheduling of providers and linking of the visits. It helps drive the physician through their note while ensuring that they are coding their visits properly. It also helps with MIPS and other programs. They also do regular updates to improve the software, which is great.
Contras:
The things that are the least liked are the inability to really fine tune the scheduling. Even though you limit the type of appointments per location or provider, it still providers the schedulers with all options even if they are not able to use them. Also, creating the notes can be a bit cumbersome. I think some more "customization" would be helpful.

Great product but tricked us into paying $28K extra
Comentarios: I am having to pay $28K out of my pocket as a result of their verbiage "billing commencement date 120 days from contract date". They are so busy adding new clients on they don't have time to push your training so the long/ short is you have to start paying before they implement. I see no reason why we would be charged for software, patient reminders, efax, coding assistance, prescription writing capabilities, or patient surveys when we literally had zero access to it. I can understand charging a fee for the "sandbox" but we still had no access to the actual software functionality.
Puntos a favor:
We love the actual product. Cloud based services are great when you're coming from a local server/ remote situation.
Contras:
Software support has been great but it took somewhere around 6 weeks to get a response from the billing team (handles billing us, the client). The initial contract did not show any of the ancillary items that we very specifically asked about except efax. They also do not include tax on the contract so when budgeting/ making financial decisions to switch this is a bit misleading. We were lead to believe that everything that we could possibly be charged for was included. This was not the case.
Issues with this rapidly growing company
Comentarios: I truly am happy with the back office EMR but wish I would have asked around about their PM and appointment reminder systems. These 2 areas need a lot of work and unfortunately the company is not good at client relations. I feel they are not up to the average standard for comparable products in appointment reminders and PM.
Puntos a favor:
It has a great user friendly back office EMR system.
Contras:
Their PM service is not good at all. It takes my receptionists and office manager twice the time to input a patient, schedule an appointment, move an appointment, and run routine reports than our previous software. Also, the patient reminder system ( Relatient) is awful. It does not connect in real time to the practice schedule and requires extra work to find out if a patient has cancelled an appointment. This means loss of revenue for the practice. The reminder system is also very redundant and I have had numerous patient complaints over it. The managers in this patient reminder system know there are numerous issues with it but are not allowed to do anything until ModMed approves it which can take weeks. Lastly, even if you want to get out of this portion of the contract, ModMed will not let you. You are forced to pay for it for the full 3 year opt in time even if you no longer use it.
Alternativas consideradas:
EMA is great, customer service is bad
Comentarios: My overall experience has been bad because I had a bad implementation of new features (PM lite) followed by enforcement of a contract that extended my end date with them even though we cancelled the PM lite. They could have just reverted to my old contract after cancelling the PM lite implementation and I would have been happy.
Puntos a favor:
user friendly emr system which saved time in clinic
Contras:
The software for EMR called EMA is good and user friendly, saves time in clinic. Implementing new features is a nightmare of discovery calls, introductory calls, unusually long timelines for deploying new services. The customer service is terrible which is surprising considering it is priced at a premium level.
The better of the EHR systems
Puntos a favor:
Modmed definitely provides a near foolproof design however has room for some improvement. It is fairly easy to get new staff accustomed to the features and processes in order to scribe, manage patients, book appointments etc. Support is typically great, fast response times, but does depend on who answers the phone.
Contras:
Support does depend on who answers the phone. The billing/claims end is just okay, definitely needs fine tuning. Analytics is a nightmare.

EMA-Ophthalmology is well-designed for the specialty. It has great functionality & is user friendly.
Comentarios: EMA-Ophthalmology is a great system and saves trees. Patients are impressed with not having to fill out paperwork, since our technicians update their medical history and current medications while they are dilating. We like not having to store paper records or maintain an expensive server.
Puntos a favor:
The ModMed customer support is very responsive and professional. EMA's cloud-based design and integration with our practice management system has allowed our practice to be virtually paper-free. It took a bit of effort to get protocols set up to streamline our visit notes, but now it is a big time saver. The e-prescribing function and new office flow features are great. We use the EMA app for iPads primarily, but the web version is also easy to use. I recently attended their annual conference and was thoroughly impressed with the company's sincere interest in user feedback to constantly improve their product.
Contras:
There was one time (once in two years) when the system was unavailable for a couple of hours, but we used the "Paper EMA" sheets you can download and print as a back-up until it was restored. The only other negative we have noticed is that it is difficult for the system to bill corneal topography with the correct codes.

Finally a specialty EMR done right!
Comentarios: Overall excellent software. It might cost more than some of the others but I believe it is worth it and should allow you to see more patients, therefore bring more money in, in the end. I came from working in a derm office using this platform and am now in Plastics and am desperately trying to convert my new practice to EMA Plastics.
Puntos a favor:
They clearly listen to providers and are constantly making changes to improve their system. It comes with built in counseling, patient education, diagnosis codes, it codes all your office visits/procedures for you, keeps track of global periods, allows before and after image comparison (which is huge for stubborn acne teens), it is user friendly, works across desktops, ipads, iphones, the through the use of protocols, it can make charting go extremely fast!
Contras:
There is always room for improvement but overall I can't really say anything that stands out for negatives. It would be nice if some of the standardized features like patient history, patient portal had some customizable features or the ability to rearrange topics for personal workflow, but it's nothing major.
Overall great system that only misses on minor features
Comentarios: EMA has allowed us to cut down on the time that our providers spend entering notes by orders of magnitude over other systems we have tried.
Puntos a favor:
Ease of use and functionality. It is only missing a few small features that I think would make things easier. There is no way, for example, for a manager to get ability to view all tasks assigned to all staff members. Only the assigner and assignee can see the task. Additionally, the system does not incorporate "." phrase programming for frequently used phrases.
Contras:
It is expensive. Full licenses are relatively high priced and pricing faxing per fax sent puts that feature out of range for most busy practices, including ours.

Look No Farther
Comentarios: After using other EMR's, EMA was a dream come true. I wouldn't want to run my practice without it. It is the first system that I found better—and it was FAR better—than paper.
Puntos a favor:
It was quick and easy to use. I completed the training each evening on my own. The training was excellent and I was very ready to use it well the first day I went live. It got better from there. The program was essentially never down (maybe 15 minutes once in a year). The staff loved the program. They also found it easy to learn and efficient to use. They loved the automation features.
Contras:
Creating and modifying scheduling templates was complex for our office. Office supply inventory is not yet completed.

Pros and Cons
Comentarios: Overall, Mod Med doesn't work great for the cosmetic side of our practice. Derm has had better results, but it is not well designed for cosmetic patients that pay at their visit.
Puntos a favor:
There are many things I like- it is very intuitive and easy to use, and when you do get stuck, there is a help button that actually works pretty well.
Contras:
My least favorite thing is how clunky it is. It takes way too many steps to complete any simple task. It doesn't save your place either, so you often have to start all over when jumping around from place to place in the software.
So easy to use!

Comentarios:
We are a busy two doc/two esthetician medical and cosmetic derm practice that offers the complete scope of derm services, plus dozens of cosmetic treatments. We switched from our old system to EMA in December 2011, as it clearly was more sophisticated. With the prior system, the doctors had to be word processors, having to free text into notes. Reviewing prior notes/diagnoses was tedious, and no easier than flipping through a paper chart. We launched EMA just before Christmas 2011, after our team completed weekly webinars with a trainer and did homework on the aspects of the software unique to their positions. The implementation was fairly smooth; we had issues with the interface in Advanced MD (billing/scheduling software) that cannot be completely attributed to either company; and the users stumbled on various issues, however, support (voice calls or emails) was very responsive and attentive.
Early in 2012 there were issues with crashes of the cloud servers, resulting in no chart access for minutes (rarely hours) at a time. The company was quite response, and since changing from the cloud hosting, we've had stable access to the software for nearly a year.
We love EMA. Its easy to use, intuitive, and robust; support is excellent, the company is responsive, and constantly improving the software. It saves us time and improves the quality of our care, hence we are more productive and profitable. The built in PT education features (handout and vDX links) are incredibly helpful.
There is no better derm software in my opinion!
